This is a Technics brand turntable. Made by Panasonic. This record player has a direct drive, and plays at 45 or 33 RPM.

One key feature is the strobe light. This is the light that points at the black and white squares on the edge of where the record is placed (see photo).
When the strobe light is on, the black and white squares SHOULD appear to not move. This ensures that your record player is playing at the right speed and not an incorrect speed or having the speed vary per rotation. Record players with this feature allow adjustment of the speed to allow you to have the most accurate speed.

With a belt driven turntable speed changes can occur from old record player belts, or the belt not being properly installed.
